U14T1 City Player Connor Manuel Off to Brazil

Connor Manuel is participating in the Danone Nations Cup this fall in Brazil.

The Bedford native and Halifax CITY player was the only Atlantic Canadian named to the 11 player Eastern Canada team and was voted as team captain.

“When I found out that I could try out for the Danone Cup team, I was so excited,” says Connor. “It is such a great opportunity to play with some of the best players in Eastern Canada.”

Connor’s Eastern team faced off versus Western Canada on Saturday June 21st with the winner going to the International Final in San Paulo, Brazil in November.

“The chance to play in such an important game will be a huge learning experience,” said Connor before the national match. “I have been working really hard and I can’t wait to play against other players from around the country.”

Connor’s Eastern Canadian team lost their match versus Western Canada, however Connor was invited by the Western Canada coach to represent our nation at the Nations Cup in Brazil.

The Danone Nations Cup is the largest youth soccer tournament in the world for ages 10–12 with 32 countries expected to participate. Congratulations Connor!
