CITY Men & Women set for Play-offs
2013-08-11Both teams advance in the hope of claiming a provincial title.
Halifax CITY Cushman and Wakefield men finished their good season on a 9 game unbeaten streak heading into play-offs. Two games in the final week of the 2013 regular season saw a 4-1 over Dartmouth United on Wednesday night, followed by a 3-1 victory over Cape Breton. The two games provided 7 goals from 7 different scorers with Mat Houston, Mat Budreski, Matt Fegan and Shane Rajaraman claiming the goals vs Dartmouth United, while Luke Corey, Jack Schembri and Stuart McAdam struck vs Cape Breton.
CITY finish the regular season ranked 1st place, with a 12-1-3 record and face city rivals Halifax Dunbrack in the Provincal Semi-Final on Saturday. Kick off 4pm @ Mainland Commons.
Meanwhile, CITY CBI Health women's team ended their regular season with a thrilling 5-3 defeat to Dubrack on Wednesday night to complete the season with 6-9-2 record. Hannah Fleet (2) and Hannah Landry claimed the goals in the free-scoring encounter.
Despite the defeat CITY claimed the final play-off spot and will face Valley United on Friday night in a 7pm kick-off at Mainland Common.
