2013 FIFA Confederations Cup champion Brazil will meet Portugal, the world’s sixth-ranked team, in an international friendly at Gilette Stadium on Tuesday, September 10th.  Kickoff is set for 8:30pm.

The match, which will be played during an official FIFA competition window, will feature the teams’ top squads, including two of the top three players in the world: Brazil’s Neymar and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo

Other top Brazilian players from the team that won the Confederations Cup include FredHulkThiago Silva and David Luiz.

Portugal’s call-ups for its recent World Cup qualifiers include NaniHélder PostigaPepe and Bruno Alves.

Being able to host this match during an official FIFA window, and therefore attracting the top squads from both countries – and some of the world’s top players – means this will be a truly memorable event for everyone in attendance.

Brazil defeated the defending World Cup and European champion Spain, 3-0, Sunday in the FIFA Confederations Cup, the preparation tournament for the 2014 World Cup. As the host nation of the 2014 World Cup, Brazil does not have to go through qualifying for the tournament.

“We are thrilled to return to Gillette Stadium and the greater Boston area,” Brazil Federation President Jose Maria Marin said. “The opportunity to play against a world-class opponent in Portugal is an exciting opportunity and we look forward to once again playing in front of our passionate fans living in the Boston area.”

“It is always a thrill to come to the United States and I am very happy to play against Portugal in Boston at Gillette Stadium on September 10,” Brazil forward Neymar said. “The Boston-area has a very large Brazilian population and I invite all of our fans in the United States to come out and enjoy the match.”

Portugal currently sits atop its European qualifying group for the 2014 World Cup with three fixture dates left. Before coming to Foxborough, Portugal will face Northern Ireland in Belfast on Friday, Sept. 6.
