Impressive Results for CITY as Canada claims first Gold

2012-08-05

All city teams win in the NSSL on a great Saturday for the club as Canada claims its first Olympic gold.

As Rosannagh MacLennan wins Canada's first gold in the women's trampoline on Saturday another amazing feat was happening around Halifax in the NSSL. Firstly the boys U14D team who only had 8 players from their roster available beat Suburban 5-2 with some help from the U14T2As and the U12As. Three of their players had to leave at half time to go and play for the U14T1A boys who themselves only had 9 of their available roster and were supported by members of the U14D and U14T2A teams. Despite the shortage of players the U14T1As beat County 4-1.

The U16 girls left it very late to continue to give themselves a great chance to make playoffs with a 1-0 victory over XFC. At the same time in South Shore the U18 girls managed to also claim a great 1-0 victory to keep their recent string of good results going.

The final game on Saturday was U16 boys who won 7-0 over XFC, but that was the final result of the weekend, on Sunday, the U18 girls also beat the Valley 1-0.

Well done to all involved, in what was a testing weekend with so many players absent across most of the teams.
