Halifax City is Pleased to Announce the Appointment of Ken Wharton as Director of Coaching

Ken Wharton
Ken has a U.E.F.A “A” License and an Academy Manager’s License. His extensive coaching background has included working with the Winnipeg Fury, St Johnstone (Scotland), Middlesborough and Newcastle United football clubs. While on staff at Newcastle United Ken served as an academy coach, academy director and reserve team coach.
Ken played professionally for Newcastle United from 1978 - 1989, making 335 appearances for the club and scoring 27 goals. His loyalty to Newcastle was rewarded with a testimonial match that was attended by over 21,000 people.
A serious knee injury ended his playing career.
Ken and his wife Linda have two sons, Paul (who also played soccer professionally) and Mark. They also have two grandchildren
Halifax City looks forward to welcoming Ken to his new position on October 25th.
Sincere thanks are extended to Carl Hayre and Darrel Cormier for their great work as Interim Head Coaches. Their loyalty and dedication are very much appreciated.
Darrell and Carl will be working closely with Ken as they continue on in their substantive positions as Division Directors.
