Message to Players and Families from our Technical Coordinator
2018-10-15
I want to make sure all of the players who attended player placement sessions realize how much their hard work and effort was appreciated. It was very clear to me that CITY has an abundance of players and families who have a true passion for the game of soccer!
I understand there is joy as well as disappointment once teams are made and players are placed on rosters. Your coaches and I have attempted to make sure each and every player is placed on a team that will maximize potential for development.
That being said, Long-Term Player Development means much more than simply improving soccer skills. The player you are now isn't likely going to be the same in 1 year, 2 years, etc.
Starting this upcoming indoor season and going forward coaches at CITY will be guided and supported as they implement the 4-Corner Long Term Player Development Model. This model will be the basis for planning training programs for all of our players.
The diagram below shows the 4 "corners" or factors that should be taken into consideration when training players: Technical, Psychological, Physical and Social

More often than not too much focus is placed on the Technical and Physical "corners" while ignoring a player's Psychological or Social development. We know players develop at different rates and want to ensure we are servicing their needs at all ages. I am confident players and coaches, with support from families, will see the benefits of CITY’s emphasis on long-term player development.
I am sincerely looking forward to our upcoming season together and know our players, coaches, managers and families will have a tremendous amount of fun.
Cheers,
Collin
