Once upon a time there was a game. It was a simple game. All you needed were some friends, some green grass and a ball.
The mission of Halifax City Soccer Club is to provide players, parents and coaches a safe and positive environment to learn, play and develop a passion for the sport of soccer. Our goal is to inspire all players, recreational and competitive, to achieve their personal best, develop life-long friendships, and encourage family and community engagement.
I have been lucky. I started playing the game at 10. I played at numerous levels of competition; house, recreational, competitive, provincial, high school, university, senior men and packed it in when I turned 50. The reason I played? It was fun. It still is fun.
This is what Halifax City Soccer Club is about . A simple game, some friends, some time together, and fun. This is why we were established , and what we are dedicating ourselves to.
Over the last 10 years our Club has produced, and continues to produce the best players in Nova Scotia. We have top shelf coaches, camps, Senior National Champions, Provincial and League Champions. All of which we were very proud of and will continue to produce.
But at our very essence, we are a community of friends, neighbours and acquaintances that enjoy each others company witnessing the joy of our children participating in a game. This time spent at the field watching games or training, or better still playing, allows us to reconnect with our friends and families and to witness our players as they learn and grow in the experiences of the game. The game is often described as a simulation of life with joy, hope, passion, disappointments and opportunities. It does provide that, but at the very foundation, it is game, and it is about enjoyment. Enjoyment experienced by the players, the families, the coaches and the Club.
Our Mission Statement puts it this way:
The mission of Halifax City Soccer Club is to provide players, parents and coaches a safe and positive environment to learn, play and develop a passion for the sport of soccer. Our goal is to inspire all players, recreational and competitive, to achieve their personal best, develop life-long friendships, and encourage family and community engagement.
I have been lucky. I started playing the game at 10. I played at numerous levels of competition; house, recreational, competitive, provincial, high school, university, senior men and packed it in when I turned 50. The reason I played? It was fun. It still is fun.
That is our goal as a Club, to make this sport as enjoyable as possible for all players, for the families and their friends.
To make it fun.
To make it fun for the 6 year old, or even the 12 year old just learning to play. To make it fun at the recreational and competitive levels. To be educational and enjoyable at training. To make the family trips to East Hants, the Valley and tournaments throughout the province as much fun as possible. These experiences and the memories created by them last forever.
We want that experience for all of our players and their families.
So welcome back to a new season. Invite your friends to join us, join us as a volunteer, attend every game that you can. Cheer for the opposition, cheer louder for City, enjoy the time we spend together at the field.
It's a great day to be alive. All you need is some green grass and a ball.
