University Updates September 4 th Women
UOttawa’s Katherine Bearne was named the Gee Gees female athlete of the week and
the Canadian University Sports Network women’s soccer first star, following her 3 goal
performance in Ottawa’s two victories over the Labour Day weekend. The Gee-Gees
followed up September 9 th with a 6-0 win versus RMC capped by Hannah Landry’s goal
while Queen’s Alexa MacLatchy shutout Carleton 2-0. On September 10 th . Queens and
Ottawa tied 1-1.
In the NCAA, Karah Fleet and UMass Lowell tied St. Bonaventure 0-0 on September 7th.
Hannah Bruce’s 2 assists led Utah Valley to a 2-1 victory over Bonaventure on
September 8 th but they fell 3-0 to Cal State Fullerton on the 10 th .
In AUS play on September 8 th , Acadia’s Annika Monroe triumphed 3-0 over UNB’s
Rebecca Duda and Sarah Moignard. On September 9 th, Jensen Hudder’s game winning
goal led the Dalhousie Tigers with Stephanie Dyck, Haley Glazebrook, Sydney Kenney
and Lisa Sullivan to a 2-0 shutout of UNB while SMU’s Celina Cavadini and Nicole
Theriault lost 6-0 to CBU. Larissa White’s goal helped St FX with Chloe Brennan, Elise
Brennan, Emily Fleming, and Alex Gosse to a 4-0 win in their season opener at UPEI.
MSVU’s Mariah Wright and coach Danielle Cyr lost 2-0 to STU. September 10 th had
several close games. Dalhousie shutout Acadia 1-0 while Chloe had the first goal for St
FX’s 2-1 win over SMU and MSVU battled UNBSJ to a 0-0 tie.
University Updates September 4 th Men
RESQ play continued with Damon Robinson and the McGill Redmen’s 2-0 win over
Sherbrooke on September 8 th .
In the OUA, Dondrae Fells and the Carleton Ravens shut out Cameron MacKinnon and
Rory McParland of Queens 3-0 on September 9 th . On September 10 th , Carleton had a
convincing 7-1 win versus RMC.
In the AUS on September 8 th , John Attenborough, Cooper Coats and Sean Langille of
Acadia tied UNB 1-1. Dal ‘s Ahmed Abokar, Freddy Bekkers, Jacob Bolton, Kallen
Heenan, and Jamie Matthews had an undefeated weekend with Kallen scoring in their
2-0 win over UNB followed by a 3-1 win over Acadia. SMU’s Alex Black, Darian Rolle
and Cian Tousignant-O'Siadhail were shutout on the weekend falling 2-0 to CBU and 4-0
to Joe Edgerton, Liam Elbourne and Blake Fenton of St FX. St FX have yet to concede a
goal in regular season play beating UPEI 2-0 on September 9 th .
