Weekly Round Up- Week 2 Sept 20th
Male:
Freddy Bekkers followed City teammate Cooper Coats in being the AUS Male Athlete of the Week following a 3 goal weekend. Bekkers was the hero for Dal this weekend as he scored 2 in the 3-1 win over Cape Breton on Saturday, followed by a strike in the 1-1 tie with St FX on Sunday. Striker Kallen Heenan scored the other goal in the victory over the Capers. First year midfielder Jamie Matthews featured in both games whilst City teammates Will Fitzgerald and Ryan Merlin were included in the squad. First year defender Jack Eliot was included in the match day squads for St FX for the tie with Dal and the 1-0 victory over Moncton.

On Friday night Acadia’s Cooper Coats kept his scoring streak going with a 90th minute winner in the 1-0 victory over UPEI. The goal was his 7th in 3 games and ensured Acadia maintained their 100% winning start. Defender Cory Cadeau helped ensure the shut out while midfielders Sean Langille, John Attenborough and Sam Gillis, along with goalkeeper Jack Nielsen made the trip to PEI.

Alex Black and Darien Roll were both in action as Saint Mary’s made it 2 games unbeaten in an eventful game against Mount Allison. Both players played 90 minutes in a game that saw 3 red cards and 4 goals make up the 2-2 tie in Halifax.
In the OUA 2nd year centre back Dondrae Fells helped Carleton keep a shut out in their 4-0 victory over RMC on Friday night. Fells followed it up with another start in the 4-2 triumph over Queens on Sunday.

Female:
City midfielder Chloe Brennan was named St FX Athlete of the Week this week following her performances for the X-Women. Brennan notched 4 games this weekend, claiming a hat-trick in the 4-0 over Moncton, followed by the lone goal in the 1-1 tie with Dalhousie. Chloe’s twin sister Elise Brennan helped contribute to the defensive strength on the X-Women by starting both games this weekend.

Jensen Hudder started both games for the Dalhousie Tigers as they claimed their first point of the season. Hudder was joined by City teammate Haley Glazebrook in the 2-0 defeat to Cape Breton on Saturday, before the Tigers claimed a 1-1 tie with St FX on Sunday.
Also in Halifax Celina Cavadini and Nicole Theriault both started for the SMU Husky’s but couldn’t help them from falling 2-0 to Mount A on Saturday.
UNB experienced a mixed weekend losing 4-1 to Memorial on Saturday before overcoming UPEI 2-0 on Sunday. Paige Vincent and Sarah Moignard featured both games for the Varsity Reds while goalkeeper Rebecca Duda claimed the shutout in Sunday’s win.

In the OUA East Katherine Bearne provided the assist for Ottawa as they beat Queens 1-0 to retain their perfect 7-0-0 start.
In the ACAA Danielle Cyr continued her unbeaten start as MSVU coach as the Mystics tied 1-1 on the road with Holland College. Featuring for MSVU were recent senior players Katie Black, Kat Macias and Abbey MacLeod.
In NCAA action Hannah Fleet and the SMU Mustangs enjoyed a successful weekend in Texas winning 3-1 and 2-1 against Saint Louis and Washington respectively. Fleet started both games for the Mustangs
Freshman Hannah Bruce featured for Utah Valley in a 0-0 tie with their fiercest rivals the University of Utah.
Larissa White and Emily Fleming experienced mixed fortunes this weekend for Alabama State with a heavy victory followed by a heavy loss. Both players started in the 8-0 victory against Faulkner, Fleming having a particularly eventful day claiming an assist before receiving a red card. White also started in the defeat to Garner Webb.
