The UNB Varsity Reds/Papa John’s Pizza female Athlete of the Week is Rebecca Duda, from the women’s soccer team.

Duda played a vital role as the Varsity Reds earned their first point of the season, in a 2-2 draw, at St. FX, on Sunday.

The 3rd year keeper made a number of saves to keep her team in the game.

“Rebecca had a strong first start in 2016 for our group,” says Varsity Reds head coach Jon Crossland. “We had a slow start on Sunday, and for the first 15 minutes Rebecca made some big saves and handled difficult balls off crosses. In the second half, she was brave off her line to close down dangerous St. FX attacks and preserve the tie on the end of a tough season-opening road trip.”
